  • The basic idea...

"The basic idea behind open source is very simple. When programmers on the Internet can read, redistribute, and modify the source for a piece of software, it evolves. People improve it, people adapt it, people fix bugs. And this can happen at a speed that, if one is used to the slow pace of conventional software development, seems astonishing...
...The Open Source pages exist to make this case to the commercial world."    - Introduction to Open Source -

    Details: QuickDic restored

    market download QuickDic restored
Uses data from Wiktionary to generate dictionary files that can be used offline. These can be downloaded from within the app.
Use the long-press menu of a word to have your device's text-to-speech implementation speak it for you.

Note: I am not the original author, but I took over maintenance of it after being surprised by the removal of the original QuickDic app.
The original dictionary files got lost, all have been regenerated and are using a new, more compact format.
If you are missing dictionaries you rely on please request them. Also say if you spot any significant issues with the new dictionaries.
Source code is available here: but little documentation (in the readme.txt) so far.
