The basic idea...

"The basic idea behind open source is very simple. When programmers on the Internet can read, redistribute, and modify the source for a piece of software, it evolves. People improve it, people adapt it, people fix bugs. And this can happen at a speed that, if one is used to the slow pace of conventional software development, seems astonishing...
...The Open Source pages exist to make this case to the commercial world."    - Introduction to Open Source - www.opensource.org

* RingyDingyDingy Remote Ringer

market download If you find RingyDingyDingy useful, please consider Flattring it at https://flattr.com/thing/809447.

Now works on tablets through Google Voice! (Requires the official Google Voice app from Google.) Note: you will not get a confirmation text back when you use the Google Voice trigger. This is due to a security restriction on Google Voice.

RingyDingyDingy is open source (licensed under the GPLv3)! See https://code.google.com/p/ringydingydingy/ for the project's page, or https://github.com/dririan/ringydingydingy for the latest code!

Have you ever lost your phone, then called it to find it, only to realize that you left it on silent or vibrate only? Have you ever lost your tablet and left notifications off? Enter RingyDingyDingy.

RingyDingyDingy lets you initiate a remote ring on your device with a text message, and even turns the volume to the maximum and disables silent or vibrate only! Because RingyDingyDingy is triggered by a text message, you don't need a computer to find your device. Of course, if no other cell phones are available, you can send a text message from your computer to do the remote ring. If you have the official Google Voice app, you can also send a message to your Google Voice number!

If you're running Froyo or newer (and you probably are), you can also remotely lock your device with a text message!

RingyDingyDingy is currently in beta, but has been thoroughly tested. Updates to RingyDingyDingy will be somewhat frequent for the near future, adding features and fixing any bugs that pop up.

Please report any problems to ringydingydingy@dririan.com, as we cannot reply to reviews on Google Play!
